Yoga, originating in India over 5,000 years ago, blends physical postures, breathwork, and mindfulness to align body and mind. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit yuj, meaning to unite, reflecting its purpose of harmonizing individual and universal consciousness. Today, yoga encompasses various styles that promote well-being and inner peace.
Kundalini Yoga, known as the yoga of awareness, blends movement, breath, chanting, and meditation to elevate consciousness. It brings together mind, body, and spirit, helping to deepen self-awareness, mental clarity, and emotional balance. Through these practices, Kundalini Yoga offers a path to transformation and growth.
Whether through movement, meditation, or spiritual exploration, Kundalini Yoga encourages inner harmony and personal well-being. By focusing on energy and awareness, it enhances concentration and cultivates a deeper connection to oneself and the world around us.
Ahimsāyā is rooted in the Sanskrit principle of ahimsa (अहिंसाया), meaning non-violence. It offers yoga and wellness practices designed to support holistic well-being, creating space for inner calm, growth, and transformation. Through a blend of movement, meditation, and breathwork, Ahimsāyā inspires balance and intentional living.
Behind Ahimsāyā is Mari Mikkelsen, a KRI-certified Kundalini Yoga teacher (IKYTA/Yoga Alliance RYT) with over 20 years of experience in Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Yin, Kundalini, and Transcendental Meditation (TM). A personal health challenge involving spinal cord inflammation deepened her exploration of both conventional and alternative healing methods, strengthening her understanding of the transformative power of yoga and Ayurveda.
Alongside her work in yoga and wellness, Mari is an experienced communicator. Through MAMIK, she provides expert text services, while SÁL specializes in strategic communication for conscious collectives. This intersection of disciplines allows her to bridge inner well-being with meaningful, purpose-driven expression.
